South Yorkshire and North-East Derbyshire Ramblers

The little things you want to know, but are scared to ask!

How can I join a walk?

Joining a walk is very simple. Simply use our online walks finder to find a local walk.

The walk will give details of the start point, time and distance.

Some walks you may have to book places (Please see the walk details for further information)

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the start of the walk.

What should we bring on a walk?

Walks may vary depending on the group, however in general we recommend comfortable shoes or walking boots, suitable clothing, drinks and snacks.

For some of the longer walks, we suggest bringing a packed lunch.

The walk leader for the walk can advise on any requirements or recommendations.

What is the recommended age range?

Our walks are open to all ages. However we do recommend reviewing the distance and thinking "can I walk that far"?

We've had walkers range from 8 years to 80+ years.

Under 16's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

How much does it cost?

Walks in general are free to attend. (Exceptions apply such as coach trips)

All we ask is after 3 walks (to see if you like what we do), you join the Ramblers to help with the work which we do. Membership starts from £3.05 per month.

Can I walk with any group?

Yes!

Feel free to walk with any group, even if the group is not your local group.

For example, you may live in Doncaster, but you are welcome to join Dearne Valley Rambler's walks.
